Overview

Students review the basics of subject-verb agreement, practicing agreement when the subject is difficult to find or appears confusing. Students also review pronoun-antecedent agreement. 

What you can expect to learn

  • Choose the correct verb to agree with the subject of a sentence, even when the sentence is in inverted order or there are intervening phrases between the subject and the verb. 
  • Choose the correct verb to agree with the subject when the subject is plural in form, compound, or collective. 
  • Choose the correct verb to agree with the subject when the subject is an indefinite or relative pronoun. 
  • Choose the correct pronoun to agree with its antecedent even when the antecedent is a collective noun or an indefinite pronoun.
