Congruent Triangles

Overview

Chapter 4 focuses on proving triangle congruences. These proofs lay the foundation for the proofs of many other geometric theorems, including the congruences of other polygons. After an examination of the angle relationships in a triangle, 4 means of proving triangles to be congruent are developed: SAS, ASA, AAS, and SSS congruence. Flow-chart proofs, which can clarify the relationships among statements in more complicated proofs, are introduced. Right triangle congruences are explored and compared to oblique triangle congruences. Coordinate geometry is applied to describe triangles and prove the Triangle Midsegment Theorem.
