Sentences, Phrases, and Clauses

Overview

This chapter builds upon the basic sentence structure reviewed in Chapter 1, focusing on prepositions, their objects, and prepositional phrases. Independent and dependent clauses are reviewed, and distinction is made between a phrase and a clause. Students review what a fragment is and learn to correct these errors. Correct usage of commas is also examined.
