Overview

Students review the four sentence types and practice finding subjects and predicates, including in inverted and imperative sentences. Basic sentence patterns are reviewed, along with phrases, clauses, and sentence errors. 

What you can expect to learn

  • Correctly label senteces as declarative, interrogative, imperative, or exclamatory. 
  • Find subjects and predicates in any type of sentence. 
  • Identify sentence patterns for sentences with transitive and intransitive verbs. 
  • Distinguish between a phrase, a dependent clause, and an independent clause. 
  • Identify and correct comma splices, fragments, and fused sentences.
